About Shrimp King

Many people in the Central Jersey region and beyond agree: Shrimp King is a great place to
enjoy the freshest seafood, cooked to order and prepared to please any seafood lover’s
palate, without taking a heavy chunk out of your wallet. But we’re not only about seafood. We
have many other entrees to choose from – such as pork chops, chicken dishes, veal, and
authentic Greek gyros with our own homemade tzatziki sauce, plus juicy filet mignon and New
York steaks.
Even if you don't like seafood you can still enjoy a great meal for a great price.
Shrimp King is a restaurant and seafood market located on 1111 Rt. 130 in Robbinsville, New
Jersey. Our market has only the freshest and best fish and shrimp available. Our fine
suppliers deliver fresh every day, which means that you can be assured that our seafood is
the freshest you can find.

Shrimp King was originally founded in 1975, but has been owned and operated by the
Skopas family since 1990. Some of our older neighbors may remember the place as a
takeout shack, but the Skopas family have completely renovated the building into a cozy
casual place to dine in comfort. Pete and Potoula Skopas truly love to bring their customers
the finest food and service you deserve from a family restaurant. Pete is in his late seventies
now and he has pretty much given over the day-to-day running of the business to his son Gus,
but you can still see Pete every time you come in, and he still makes Shrimp King’s incredible
homemade soups every morning. You won’t find a better lentil or split pea soup anywhere
else, and that includes any overpriced Chambersburg restaurant. You have to come to the
King and experience for yourself the amazing mix of true high-quality food and inexpensive
prices.
Gus and his brother and sister Ted and Mary Jo carry on the family tradition and run Shrimp
King to perfection, just as it always has been. Don’t just take it from me: Shrimp King is a two-
time winner of the Trentonian’s  Best Of Poll for Best Seafood Restaurant and Best
Crabcakes. Don’t drive to Maryland to get gouged for Chesapeake Bay crabcakes, the
crabcakes at the Shrimp King are the authentic real deal, and surprisingly affordable.
All in all, the Shrimp King is the only place you need to know about in Central NJ for the finest
and freshest meals.
